The Senate votes Sat.

  Well, the GOP in the Senate did at least stop the leftist Dems from trying to fool the public,. trick the GOP and aid their allies in the media when a vote of 56-38 came about on a procedural vote today. The vote was to lead up to undercutting the President's troop surge. 7 Pubs voted with the Dems and 10 Pubs did not vote at all. The Senate on important votes, (what vote nowadays doesn't seem important) had to have 60 votes. The Dems were furious. The media was furious. The Gop wants an up and down vote on funding for the troops ala the Greeg resolution, a Pub support funding bill. The Dems do not want to vote on funding. That , they know , will show the public that they do not want to fund even the military already in the field. The fact is, they want to undermine the President, as Rep. Murtha ranted, so that no military efforts could go forward anywhere, especially in Iraq and now Iran, because the Dems are pacifist socialist liberals.That is reason enough. They actually had to vote in the House Friday to expand tax credits to businesses on certain levels because they still want to raise the minimum wage. That , of course, is bad for the very business they just helped with the tax credits.  Oh well, Dems have never been much good at economic or tax theory. And we know they are not good on national defense or defending the military. We have two more years of a Dem Congress before the 2008 Presidential Election. And frankly, there will be many more years of Dem rule unless the Pubs start acting like conserv Pubs that their BASE demands. Who knows? Perhaps the voting public will finally realize how leftist the Dems are, elect Rudy G and a Republican Congress again. But, I am not staying up at nights on this one. Both Parties have left much to be desired as they serve or do a disservice to our voters.

The give-up Pubs, the Surrender Group, the 17 White Flags

  As one of my young (almost all of my heroes are now younger than I am) heroes in Talk Radio (other than Sean, Rush , Dennis and Laura) is Hugh Hewitt. A great interviewer, funny, and smart, Hugh has called the vote in the House of Reps today, the 17 White Flag Republicans. He is correct. And he has gone after Rik Keller of Fla. Look, we all know that the Blue states have different mores, agendas and even perceptions of what American heritage, history, values really contain. Foreign policy for the last 60 years has seen the leftist Dems almost without fail, anti-American foreign policy and very anti-military. Nothing has changed. But, the 17 Pubs today, sounded like they were following the Baker Surrender Group and their view that the war is lost and only by ........redeploying.....moving...setting bench marks...et al. We all know, if we follow politics, that in many districts a rep follows the political sway of the most vocal in those communities and in Blue areas with Pub reps, they are forced, they say, to vote ' their conscience' even if it goes against our Commander in Chief and or the Party and or a war or policy that is not over, not finished and with some pain. Pain seems to be the one thing that the 17 dealt with by not rallying for the military. Yet, the military expects pain. It expects losses and yes, the deaths of our heroes have been terrible for the families. Still, the numbers are very very small when compared to other battles, war and campaigns. No one wants to hear about that since Americans usually want all stories done in either a half hour or hour but surely not years. And surely not for a generation. Yet, Islamofascists will be fighting us for a generation. They will take the pain and the losses. They will not just give up if no benchmarks are set. The 17 are awaiting the 2008 elections. They fear the liberals in their districts will not elect them and go with the Dem candidate who will surely be anti-war and anti-military. The Democrat Party wants to hold Congress, win the Presidency and remove the USA from any , any ,military affair that cannot be won with losses. That is silly, inane and unworthy. The 17 Pubs should know that. Perhaps, Hugh is right. Perhaps in all 17 districts, the BASE should rally round the conservative candidate in the upcoming primaries. Sure the Dems could win all 17 races. But, maybe not. Even some Democrats may realize that this war is just one battle in an ongoing war for our American culture, way of life, national security and safety for all those children that the Democrats are always crowing about!!

The give up Libs

It is very obvious that our troops, without censorship from either CNN, MSNBC or the DOD, are angry with the cut and run, loser first, PC rules of engagement leftist liberals in the pacifist socialist Democrat caucus in Congress. Our troops know that without restraints they can defeat the insurgents, the killers, the Islamofascists, the terrorists whatever you call them in Iraq and Afghanistan. Gates, Patreus and Bush think so too. Of course, the MSM, old media and the Democrats do not think so and are willing to pass worthless resolutions to cut more flesh away from the Bush Administration and kow tow to the anti-war yahoos in the USA. That our voting public still gets way too much of real factual news from the MSM, old media=CBS,NBC,ABC, is noteworthy and they are brainwashed to think we are losing the war not only in Iraq but against Islamofascism all over the world.That is not true but when the perception is there to agree to that , it impacts our whole culture. Way too many people in the USA cannot take any, any bloodshed in the war against terrorism. It is too bad but that is the fact. Only pacifist socialists like the Democrats gain from those attitudes. Unless, there is some obvious wins, great amounts of deaths of high ranking Islamofascists, and perhaps captures of leaders of Al Q, the public will not see the lies of the Democrat Party. The public will not look at this war as one branch of our overall generational war against Islamofascism. The next President will then have to deal with the next homeland attack here on our soil. But, unfortunately, no one will remember that it was the PC cowardice and isolationism of the Democrat Party that caused the attack in the first place!

To Mitt or not to Mitt

What is going on with Mitt? Look, he is a nice guy. He has some pretty good stances and is good looking, was a courageous governor in a hugely Dem-liberal state, and has made some political moves which all pols do. That is , he has changed his mind because his own Party needs certain stances on its platform to hold its BASE. OK, but that is not my problem with Mitt. It is not his Mormormism; the nation withstood a Bubba, a Roman Catholic in JFK,  a Baptist rascal in Johnson and a Carter who was supposedly a real born again Christian. And he was the worst. No, Mitt is from New England.Sure he was born in Michigan as was his papa, George many years ago. He cannot even win his own region if he runs. Not one of those blue states will fall to his good looks if Obama or Her Highness wins the Dem nomination. He cannot be added on as a Veep for the same reasons. And if Rudy G wins the nomination, he is a Northern guy too. So where does the Party go?  Mitt might make a very attractive Cabinet official. That is about it.  The GOP has to win some blue state and only Rudy G has the potential to do that of all the candidates. McCain is dying on the vine and no one else seems to be able to escape single digits in the polls. Newt is a marvel but just is a no go. We all know that. It will be interesting to see how Mitt grows, or Rudy grows. It will be interesting to see if a conservative House Rep, or even a Senator from a state with a Republican governor who can appoint another Pub to that seat if chosen, steps up to be a VP choice for Rudy. Or Mitt. Still, when the leaves fly next Nov. and Dec., my guess is that the nomination will be very closely won by the person who can beat any or one Dem that is in the lead at the time. That will not be Mitt. It will be Rudy G, warts and all.

Rudy G, Obama, Her Highness

Does it not seem to most readers and viewers that the political season is now 24/7 and that life in general is now so impacted by this, that meditation on say, the spiritual parts of our lives is becoming less stressed with each passing year? Obama talks about a New Vision. Yet, if one is serious about life , over our last 200 years do we not realize that spiritual health has more call on our daily lives than just these politicians? I love politics. I do. I think that all Christians must be involved in the political goings on in the USA and that not to, allows our enemies, America's enemies, the Church's enemies to prevail. Yet so many PC groups, pols, and media organizations don't want Christians to be involved at all in our local, state and national lives. We should ignore their opposition and continue to act like Salt to our public discourse. Our inner lives in fact impact how we look at all evil, goodness and how God deals with both. American heritage is sprinkled with Biblical, Godliness, the impact of Jesus Christ on all our lives throughout our history. To back down, to allow pacifist socialists, secular humanists, Islamofacists or any other enemy of America, our Christian God, and our heritage without standing for those things that Alexis D Toc. wrote about long ago would be to surrender to evil per se. It was that Frenchman, of all peoples, of all heritages, who knew that our American power was found in our Christian religion and churches who depended on Jesus Christ alone for our lives. We could do far worse today.   Though I will vote myself for Rudy G , I realize that my, our only hope for glory and eternity resides in the person of Jesus Christ. Intolerant? Actually, no. It is His love, grace and power to change lives for the best that is the world's hope.

'Rome-transformation and today'

Teaching history for some 45 years, I find the fact that the Bible has much to say about trends in world history, the Roman Empire, and the facts of transformation by religions is powerful stuff in 2007. Next week, at church, I will preach on Transformation as a Christian : Christ in me is my only hope for glory. Tonight, my wife and my best friend and I watched 'Rome' on HBO. It is a brutal, fairly accurate portrayal of pagan cultures, war, conniving, and non-transformation of character. Galatians 5 talks of certain paths of ongoing sin which keeps people from Heaven: orgies, sexual deviances et al are noted. Rome was such a place even though some characters wanted to change the mores of the day and restore a pure, holy Republic. America is in such a position though people today are want to say that those 'Christian fundies are the real problem in life and if they would only shut up and let us feel, do, say, act like we want, all would be well in America.' It is just the other way round but one is apt to say evil is either ignored, tolerated in the PC fashion or forgotten in our heritage, our social , cultural and political life today. Let's all go back to Bubba, let's all stop this judgementalism and boy howdy would things be great in America. After all who are we to complain about Islamofascism, illegal immigration, gangs and the whatnot. Different cultures, mores, actions for ...different strokes ....etc and all that jazz. The problem is, it is not working either morally for our nation , our health, our economy, our politics, our culture or for our inner spirits. Ephesians 6 talks about putting on the full armor of God and that we fight against demonic powers not flesh and blood. Actually, we fight both. Hitler , Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, Saddam, Osama all have proved that. And behind them as with all evil sin, are indeed demonic powers. God will not be mocked. Either we change and be transformed in our inner natures or not only will the Church be in great trouble but our nation as well.  Not PC enough? CH Spurgeon wrote, ' do you want to go to hell? The time is now to avoid it. ' Not many on this globe of 6 billion believe that way anymore. But, the day is coming when we will all have to face that question. Life is short. Having turned 68, I realize that even more than ever. Spurgeon was right. Now is the hour to face your transformation. Into the light or the darkness!

PC silliness on my 68th nativity

Well, I am 68 today. It should be a wonderful day and it actually is. Then I read The Net news . Wow. First, I saw that the DHS guy, Mike Chert. was using PC lingo about Islamofascist terror. Oh no, it was not Muslims who do that horrid stuff. Islam is peace. It is a minority of people just called terrorists. Yipe! Since when do Americans win PC wars? They will not and this stuff is going to get us all killed. It is bad enough that Bush(I voted twice for him because the lefties would have done far worse) can't see that within our own borders, in the Muslim American communities, are potential Fifth Columnists. This is not weird. CAIR and so many Muslim Americans will just not denounce Islamofascist terrorism, the Iranians, Hamas, Fatah, the PALS, or any thing that smacks of Islam or Muslim. Just whose nation are they defending? Then the Administration keeps fighting a war in Iraq with PC rules, rules of engagement. Just kill the enemy and cut out the PC affectations W. Let's hope Petraeus will not be cowed as the Administration is. One is expected to see liberal secular humanist called Democrats doing this, but W? Yipe again. And with Mexico? Well Pelosi and Baca meet with Mexican officials to write our, our ,our immigration laws. La Raza rules? And how bout those border patrol protectors? W can't even pardon them when the fix was in. When will he stop kow towing to these drug cartels, these criminals out of Mexico, and protect our own people and states? We know no Dem will do it. Will Rudy G? How bout Mitt? Good heavens, we now have 20 million illegals who do not have America as their first priority and millions of American Muslims already here who don't respond to American heritage or patriotism. What a birthday problem! Well, my wife and I are going out to dinner and a martini. I can only worry about this for so long. Then comes the Apocalypse!!

TV and blogging

Blogging is an important way to affect some problems, conditions and perpectives. Though I have not been of much impact, I love the fact that participants can bring views,even important facts that are new to our public. There is another thing in which I participate. That is, I have a rarely watched Cable TV show out of Bellflower , Ca. which goes to 12 SoCal cities. Who knows who sees it? Still, I get to talk bout media, culture, religion, education, foreign policy from a Judeo-Christian worldview. It is on Time Warner, Cable 36 from Bellflower, Ca. It is on every Wed. eve. from 5-6PM  Along with this blog, that show and my other small blog at http://phillyfanatic.spaces.live.com/?  I welcome participation in commentary which is the wholesome part of democracy.

Mexico and Iran

It appears that Mexico and Iran are now setting the foreign policy of America. Today, Mexican officials are meeting in the USA with Mexican American lobbying groups to set our ,our, border policies and Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Baca have met with these government officials from Mexico. Today, Iran sets off missile tests, threatens Israel and the US again,especially our fleets in  the Persian Gulf. Condi Rice states, we will not invade Iran. This is not really a threat to our interests. What is going on here?  Well, the pacifist socialist chickens have come home to roost in both of our political parties.   I await the comments on these two events from both the Dem and GOP candidates running for Prez.  An article today, says that Rudy G is the next thing to Teddy Roosevelt. Then let him speak up with a Big Stick. Surely no Dem will speak up. They love the wussy responses from our present day officials. With nearly 20 million illegals in our nation, and with two border guards in prison for shooting a bad guy, I now wonder how long it will be until America becomes MexiAmerica not just Mexifornia as Victor David Hanson posits?  President Bush has completely collapsed on these two issues. He is greatly strong on Iraq but what about the ongoing war against Islamofascism?  And we now know he is a prisoner of the Open Borders' crowd. This invasion of illegals is a horrid disaster. Losing to Iran will be a even bigger disaster.  Other than the Biblical God, is there no one who will step up against these happening evils??

I have been posting on another blog. Somehow it has collapsed from a BETA failure. Then I started one on MSM and it has very little coverage. It is http://phillyfanatic.spaces.live.com/?  So, after listening to Hugh, I am going to try to do this one . I have been a teacher for 45 years, college et al and a pastor for 20 years. I guess you can say, I am a political junkie, a conservative Christian who has been one since I was 15 after having correspondance with Wm. F. Buckley as a kid. His book, God and Man at Yale really changed my political views and cemented others. Like Hugh Hewitt, I am concerned with the power of the MSM old media=leftism, having still so much impact on the voting patterns of so many uninformed, apathetic and secular voters in our nation. While the Net, Talk Radio, and blogs are having impact, it is disconcerting to see how much damage The Post, The Times on both coasts, NBC,CBS,ABC, and CNN have so much brainwashing impact on our voters. It is also tied into the fact that Evangelical Christians are a great part of the BASE of the GOP and they too are ignored, ridiculed by the MSM,leftist media. I fear for our nation. And politically, we are at the gate where the barbarians may once again take control of our political , cultural, and social lives for another 40 years. To think that one party has no idea of the real evil of Islamofascism and the open borders that leads to a domestic invasion of our educational, health, public safety systems, shatters one's confidence that our democratic republic will survive. Still, as a Christian, I have faith not only in the God of the Universe, Jesus, but the underlying wisdom of the American people when they get all the facts, see the true nature of evil that threatens our nation as well as our individual spirits. Hopefully, our eyes will open, our hearts will open and our back-bones will be strengthened.
