The religion of peace strikes again

By now, anyone who is not completely out of reality, has read or seen or heard about the horror that occured in Pakistan again. The thugs of Islam, perhaps the Taliban, perhaps Al Queda or some other loony Muslim ideological terrorist killed former corrupt, yes, corrupt, but brave pseudo-democratic PM, Bhutto. She would have been a tough PM and probably hated to cooperate with the Pakistani President Mushy as I call him. He too is corrupt but he is our corrupt dictator and in some cases actually did fight and help against the terrorists. But, it is now evident that in Western Pakistan, the Al Queda thugs are protecting the leadership, perhaps Osama or Usama or however Al Jeezera writes it nowadays and they are also being protected by some Pakistani military people, even Mushy himself. We do not know. Now, however, he too will be a target once again. He must stop Osama and allow American military in to Western Pakistan, whether he wants to or not. If not, he is a dead man. With 70-100 nukes available to whoever rules that mess, this is serious. And it is serious in the West too. In our elections coming up, we once again should be serious, (whether we will or not is up in the air since we seem more interested in fads, IPODS, Spears and babies, Hollywood pregnancies without marriage) by selecting a guy who is a tough Commander in Chief in the making. That frankly, leaves out any Democrat socialist pacifist. Would anyone seriously trust Clinton or Obama to lead our military against Peaceful Islamofascism???? Once again, the religion of peace has struck. We are so fortunate that it has not struck us since 9/11. But, it could and then how will voters react if we are struck before Nov., '08? I think that unless voters are brainwashed by the media and the Huckaboom continues after Iowa, the Huck is not going to be taken seriously by intelligent voters. We don't need a populist now, we need a tough guy to lead us in this unrelenting world war. And that it is whether the Left understands the evil or not. As to religious views, whether a Christian, or whoever in the race, it is really about who protects the nation. And now frankly, religion will or should not play a part in that decision. It would be nice to have a good Christian in charge. But, I remember Carter. He was supposedly a Christian and was a disastrous President. IKE's religion was suspect but he served a strong 8 years. These are serious times for serious voters, religious or not!

Huckaboom???

In the GOP, the Huckaboom seems to be putting the Party into disarray. On the outside,he looks like a nice Evangelical guy who has values. But, he has many populist even left wing views on guns, immigration, tax and spending , even crime. The Huck does not look like the historical, traditional, conservative GOPer that many are used to. Well, in the Democrat Party, Obama seems to be the Messiah for Change! Perhaps change is the byword nowadays. But, CHANGE FOR WHAT , TO WHAT AND WHY?  Many in this nation want liberty, freedom , capitalism maintained, national security, freedom from crime domestically, tax cuts, good jurists who do not LEGISLATE, and want our borders and national sovereignty protected. So what change??? People with a Messiah complex like Woodrow Wilson, can be viewed as great people but whose policies are very destructive. That is how I look at Clinton , Obama, Huckabee, and any populist, any liberal. They may want change but for what? For more socialism?  For more pacifism? For a multicultural society with no standards? For a Third World status because of misplaced compassion? I have been watching and commenting on politics for 50 years. I see this upcoming election a real test of American heritage, protection and values. But, one must be able to discern just what values, heritage, and history we really want as we vote.

Time to get past religion

Well, I love preaching and teaching about the Bible and the Lord Jesus. But, this overall emphasis in the political realm on religion  is beginning to overwhelm the electorate and turn them off. Michele Malkin and Thomas Sowell and Dennis Prager have all made these points. So has a secularist named Paglia who is really a pretty good analyst on society and culture. No liberal Democrat, and that is what makes up the Party nowadays, is ever asked about their religious stands, evolution, the Virgin Birth, Satan or anything else. Perhaps the liberal media knows the Dem leaders simply are not filled with that type of theological spirit or Godly values. I don't know. But, it is tiring that Mitt, Huck and even Fred are portrayed as religious nutters by the media.  Rudy is a lapsed Catholic but all they ask him on the issues is about adultery and marriages.  Where are the issues? The Republicans have the high ground on issues but you would never know it since they aren't really asked about those issues in a format in which they could discuss their political values via policy on issues like borders, Islamofascism, tax and spending, jurist selections. Those issues and policies are all, ALL different from the other party. But, these debate formats are so narrow that no one can answer good questions on comparisons and differences with more time.  It is time for the candidates to stop the religious pandering and tell voters how they differ or agree on the issues that mean something to American voters. I do know that as I look at  the candidates, the values they all share are still good enough to be Presidential. Ads and going on Talk Radio will help all of them when they take the time to do so.

God's OK, huh?

It was interesting that Fred Thompson on Wolfie's program, said, God was OK with him and he was OK with God. How nice! I am sure God was very happy with this. Fred needed to convince the Evangelicals because they make up nearly 40% of GOP voters. Rudy is a lapsed Catholic and his support is coming from a small % of Evangelicals such as Pat Robertson but is also supported by Grover Norquist, a No-Tax man. That is interesting. Mitt has some Evangelical support and Thursday is giving a speech on Religious Freedom, which some think is a Mormon apology. Mike Huckabee is a Baptist minister who nevertheless is a populist who raises taxes and thinks that other in the race do not meet Evangelical concerns. He might be for open borders though Gopers think illegal immigration is the most important issue in the 2008 race.  As to the Democrats, well they all go to Black Christian churches to raise money and tell them that they are really good religious people. Yet none appeals to the Bible or to born again Christians. Obama might not have any real Christian ideals since his church and pastor seem to be very radical in their social views. Boy, God is really glad all these people are firing around His name and seemingly think that they need to appeal to other types of religious people. Some indeed are real Christians. NOT. Can you imagine a real Christian looking around to see if any of these people really FOLLOW JESUS. Some might and we just cannot see it. Some might be Christians but does that necessarily mean that they are the best to lead the entire nation?? We shall see in a month and on Feb. 5. The real question is , will God really be pleased by any of these candidates??

Advent

My friends, this upcoming season is often called Advent in the Christian Church calendar. Now a lot of Americans, according to polls seem to be swinging toward secular humanism or even atheism. This has been going on since those marvelous 1960's. Actually one of the worst decades for American culture, history and heritage in our entire history. Advent notes the coming of Christ Jesus. It does not foretell Soltice, Happy Holidays, Kwanza, or Winter Festivals.  Again, people are offended. But, but, even large stores are now finding out that their signs better say 'Merry Christmas' not Happy Holidays or they lose business.  Some writers are writing that this disrespect for Biblical heritage and history actually portends the End Days. Who knows? But, it does show that God and His sovereignty is under the most fierce attacks for many a generation in this nation. So, this Sunday, I will be preaching my retirement sermon at the church I have served for 20 years. The title will be on Advent, not Winter Solstice.  I will be recalling for 2,000 years the great cloud of witnesses that have celebrated Christmas. I hope to remind people of how, who, where and when they celebrated Christmas over the years.  This Season is for worship , joy, happiness and thankfulness for the blessings that Americans have each Christmas and the years following each celebration.

Thanksgiving

Two days ago, the church gave me a wonderful retirement luncheon. I taught the adults, then had a chance to preach a sermon on Thanksgiving.  Yes, Thanksgiving.  I not the city of Seattle outlawed Thanksgiving because it might offend Native Americans.  Liberals do that type of ridiculous stuff because they do not understand the culture of real American life, history or tradition. And they don't seem very thankful for America and its more than 200 years of liberty, freedom and opportunity. Sad but true. Blaming American or God or Bush or Reagan or Christians or Conservatives seem to be the motto of liberalism . Never thanking the God of the Judeo-Christian Heritage and Bible for making this nation special. From the very start, this nation was really the City set on a Hill. It was to be a LIght to the world. It was the New Israel. Liberals hate that type of stuff. They want socialism, pacifist ideas for this nation. That was not the idea of the Founders, the Mayflower Compact, and the early religious groups that came here for the right to worship and not have government interfere with them. My whole sermon was on what we should be thankful for and how it applies to everyday life.  Think house, family, work, church, beauty of the USA, democracy, our military, our whole life-style. Think of freedoms no other nation has. Think of the economic strength of this people which makes our nation strong. Sure we have problems, cultural evil and socialism running rampant in some areas but there are also wonderful stories of achievement, love, grace, joy, and contributions from people , ideas, business inventions, science, health whatever. So before you watch the Dallas football game, eat turkey, thank God you live in America. Stop whining. I have been round the globe. I saw people in Rio living in drain pipes. The poorest American eats, has a TV and even gets food stamps. And in reality, we all go to the hospital even if it is bankrupting other hard working tax payers. So stop complaining about the USA and thank God we have what we have.

Profiling

There are many reasons that in a republican democracy like ours, which has a great Constitution with legal , social, cultural and civil rights attached to it, that people might, just might fear some Huge Government conspiracy to be a Big Brother and Watch us all 24/7 in weird, scientific almost sci-fi ways that would intrude on our supposed privacy. Therefore, ID cards, TV cameras in cities, profiling say Mosques that the LA Police are said to be contemplating, might be viewed by many liberal civil libertarians, ACLU types, Hispanic or Muslim or Black groups to be overeaching in an effort to prevent illegality , border problems, terrorist problems, gang problems and other preventive type actions which might prevent crimes. Many of these types would say this is a Nazi, Communist, or some type of Police state. That is often brought up especially if Conservatives, Christians, Republicans, Police or military types introduce Profiling of some type. That in most cases no one's rights have ever been really trashed by these attemps, since most of them in the USA are new and not even in a trial basis, one is apt to say, with terror, crime out of control , gangs, yes, racial gangs, the fact that mosques and madrasses are teaching in America terrorist trash and malarky , why not try profiling.?The media, leftists, libertarians of all stripes, and almost all minorities will howl at this.  Yet, by stats, it is these very people that should be profiled to save law breaking that may endanger the very people these groups say they are protecting. I am for profiling. Period. I want the police to have stats on varied gangs, criminal groups, people with records, whether black, purple, gold, tangerine or whatever color. I want radical mosques profiled, bugged and their imans and mullahs to be watched.  I know all the cries about justice, laws being distorted, Fascism, Communism (well liberals never complain about Communists), but this is America. Not even in the 4 administrations of FDR where it could be said One Party ruled the USA completely, did people really fear the Government was going to jail Republicans , Hoover, or old ladies from Pasadena. It is only when a conservative government or police or military people warn that crime is killing us and could be escalated to even include nuclear blackmail that people cry out, Oh please, don't profile. Yet stats show that minorities do cause more crime. Stats show, terrorism is now the purview of Muslims not Presbyterians or Mormons or Episcopals. The people who are viewed as dangerous because they already have records, have committed crimes and have threatened the USA should be profiled and we have to stop this PC nonsense of frisking old people in wheel chairs, kids under 6 and non Middle Eastern-North African-SWAsia peoples in airports. We know pretty well who the villains are and it is time to keep even a closer eye on them. Good for the Los Angeles police.

Political Endorsements

What do people think when groups, media outlets, religious people, entertainers endorse political candidates?  Does it sway any votes?  Supposedly, in MIssouri , M.Fox who has MS swayed the election of a Dem female Senator over a well known Republican Senator with 'sentiment'. It turned out the ad was not very truthful but it worked.  Many miniorities have used ads over the last 60 years to brand other politicians as racists, homophobic, horrid   and not even American.                                                                                                                                                                                                                I find these ads to be reprehensible and the endorsements put out by these ads really can be very destructive. Since many pols now actually campaign in many churches , though they are not supposed to do so, one wonders if there really is a separation of church and state or only made up my liberal revisionist lawyers. Campaigns in black, Hispanic and other minority churches are frequent and if a conservative Christian had it happen, boy the media would be all over that conservative church wanting the IRS to pull its charter.   Still, endorsements might sway a few people. Every candidate loves to be endorsed by famous or infamous people.  Hollywood usually endorse some liberal Democrat and Evangelicals usually endorse some Republican.   It only matters if that person really has influence over voters. And if they do, why do they?   I would say nowadays, that Talk Radio hosts might have more sway than an entertainer. But, who knows?   As to religious people, would a Billy Graham or Pope Benedict, or Pat Robertson, or Joel Osteen, or Rick Warren have any really punch in today's election cycle?  It would be interesting to see if it would and if the above people actually came out for a certain politician.  Then would the voter actually go into the booth and listen to that endorsement?

Moral courts?

I want to warn the reader that our Court system is still, still falling apart. We have more loons now leading the Appeals Courts in varied sections of the nation as well as in state courts. The issues range from approving of homosexual teachings in public schools to approving licenses for illegal immigrants. It is amazing that America has such courts which seem as nutty as some of the criminals they are supposed to judge. Ideologies, ideas, government or business projects also seem to come up more and more in their adjudications. Not only are the decisions void of common sense, they seem to have no moral basis either. Criminals seem to get off with a slap on the wrists. Then we hear some sillies asking for a moritorium on the death penalty. Hardly anyone gets put to death for their horrendous crimes anymore. We have nearly, what is it, some 5000 on death row. And some have been there for years. Yipe. They should have all been executed and that would save the taxpayers much money.  Illegals run free and the courts 'feel sorry for them.' Feelings have nothing to do with the law. Yet, that is how people 'think', they feel. Justice is weird nowadays. And then we have the election of 2008 coming up. Why is that important to courts?  Because the President might get to appoint as many as 6 justices in either a 4-yr. or 8-yr. administration. How the SCOTUS reads the law is important to our citizens. If one is a liberal or a conservative, judges mean something for a generation. Who will get to choose those jurists? That, to me, is one of the highest priorities to vote in the '08 election.

How far can enviros go?

Look, we all know, if we have read Genesis in the Bible, that humanity should be the guardians of our environment, animals, plants, waters, oceans et al. But, but, but, there is nowhere in the Bible which says that humanity should subjugate itself to animals, bugs, fleas, ants, flies, man eating plants, sharks et al just because all things alive are equal. They are not. But, that does not make humanity a cruel partner with our animal friends. We should be their protectors and we should also protect humanity from nutcases like ELF and other eco-terrorists. There are nuts who don't want people in mountains, or farms, or even suburbs, who don't want humans to clean up brush, chapparrel et al. Oh no. Of course, it makes more fuel.  When will Americans who both love humanity and our natural friends, animals and plants, realize that  crazy enviros are socialists and really anti-American and anti-capitalistic?  I pray soon. I loved my cat Puff. She just died and we spent thousands to keep alive. We loved her and yes, felt her a furry friend. We have an Aussie Border Collie, Casey, who is a lovely dog, a friend and we have spent dough to keep her alive too. But, we also have 3 grandsons. Not one of our pets would subjugate our kids or daughters. Not one. We Biblical people are pro-people and want the best for humanity. But, we also want to conserve, keep our planet a nice place without allowing the nutcases the ability to destroy our economy and our life style and put us back to the 6th Century. Sort of reminds me of the Islamofascists. Just a nutty, just as evil and absolutely should never be accepted or listened to!

Race, religion, politics

America is said to be filled with racism, hatred, religous bigotry and nuttiness. All that could be true in certain places and at certain times. Is it true on a daily basis? Well, yesterday, in Louisiana, the people voted for an guy born in India, a Republican and one who was 36. He is the youngest governor in America. He is very colored in skin color. Remember, liberals have been saying and writing for years that the South is filled with bigots.  Yet, many commentator, church people say, there is less racism nowadays down South than there is in the elite East Coast areas. Religous conservatives had a convention and sort of an election too. Many voted for a Mormon. Some voted for some guys that don't go to church very much. Others voted for a Baptist minister who has been a governor of Arkansas.  Then there is a New Yorker who is a moderate, not so very conservative except in some very important ways, who people are thinking of nominating for President. Sure, racism, religious bigotry, hatred , nuttiness on left-wing blogs like MoveOn and Media Matters, but many Americans are willing to listen to and perhaps vote for different types of people without having a litmus test.  It would be nice to see liberals be more pro-life than pro-death. It would be nice for some conservatives look at a guy's record rather than his Mormonism or 3 marriages. But, we are all sinners and if we say we are Christians, we are learning to be transformed by Jesus' Spirit not to be filled with unwise hatred. We hope this for all Americans nowadays. Perhaps the best man or woman may still win as long as they have good policies which help and protect the American people. After all, a child of Indian immigrants won the race to be governor of Louisiana. If you had told Huey Long that, he would have guffawed with ridicule.

The morality of immigration

I wonder how the public will view the defeat of Senator Vitter's amendment to stop the so called Sanctuary Cities for illegals?  Probably, apathy or even worse, simmering hatred and disrespect for Congress. The polls show today that the public has only 11% approval of Congress and 24% approval for Bush.  Now some of this is about the war. It should not but people simply do not understand the threat of Islamofascism until the next time our nation is hit by these murderous terrorists.  Some of the low respect might come from how both Bush and Congress have dealt with illegal immigration. It is simply madness nowadays to say illegal immigration is good for America. We now know the true facts on crime stats, border incursions by Mexico, the unbelievable strain on our economy, welfare, education, health care,  hospitals, Medicare and Social Security , city infrastructures, rising crime against minorities by their own people. It is a scandal and the President is shameless in his kow towing to Mexico and the Democrats in their bribes and approval of illegals to be added to their voting rolls. Apparently, when we read of a culture collapsing, an empire dissolving, a nation disintegrating, Biblical prophecy that describes an End Days scenario, we can almost believe this is happening to the USA. When this nation allows law breaking just to get cheap labor, forgets the crimes and strain on our economy by this very same cheap labor, announces that Sanctuary Cities are legal for illegals, we are on the down-slope. And when the next election promises to put pacifist socialism out front by some candidates, who knows how long our free enterprise-democratic republic-Judeo-Christian heritage can survive. I know this sounds depressing. Well, it is. The thing is, will Americans do anything to rectify this immoral situation or will we apathetically accept this illegality and slip into a Third World status where we wait for our national and international destruction?

Ann and witnessing: Beck too?

Amazing that in just a week, the poor leftist media has been hit with two examples of unashamedly pro-Christian witnessing over the TV airwaves. It has struck them hard. They just cannot believe the 'intolerance' of asking people to accept Jesus as the only way to eternal life through trusting in the forgiveness on one's sins only in the shedding of Jesus' blood sacrifice nearly 2000 years ago. It has the Left in a dither. Oh the humanity!  How could that long legged blonde conservative Ann Coulter tell some guy named Donnie Duetch that Jesus demands, and Christian witnesses obey by telling everyone that the world would be far better off if all accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and become a Christian.  This happened on CNBC where maybe 20,000 people see that outlet over a week's time. Maybe. And who the heck is Donnie? Well, he was stunned that Ann could say that. Yet every born again church and every born again Christian pastor asks that of everyone week after week and then tells the hearer to go share the same truth with someone else who has not heard. It is called evangelism. But, to hear the Leftist media outlets tell it, no one has ever heard of such chutzpah.  Sorry Lefties. Jesus is the only way and no one comes to the Father but through Christ.   Then to top it off, Friday night, Glenn Beck on CNN , a really leftist news channel , actually had a Christian pastor talk about the End Days and the fact that Jesus was the only way and that He would be coming back soon to end history as we know it, perhaps, the pastor opined, in 20 years. He was simply mouthing what the Left Behind Series said over some 11-13 books. Wow! Christians actually proclaiming that Jesus is Lord and Creator of Life and is coming back. Wow! And that He alone is the only true God. Not Allah, not some Hindu animal, not Nirvana, but Jesus alone is Lord of Life.  Boy, that will get the PC nudniks up in a lather!

Religion news important

One wonders if people around the USA read any religious news that is positive? Oh sure, they read the stuff about scandals. Anything about Swaggert et al, boy howdy, people will mock and point. But, what about good news? What about good pastors, ministries, outreaches, missions? Do people , the media, the artsy groups, ever praise them? Not too much. The Oral Roberts U. scandal is out in the open, or is it?  The media will not put the heat on Muslims, their religion of war and poor President Bush still thinks that Islam is peace. We know why he does because he fears one billion other Muslims. Who by the way probably secretly in their hearts are glad the West is getting targeted by the Islamofascists.  Many city newspapers have a Saturday Religion section in which religious news is presented. If your paper has one, take a look. There are some good Christian magazines even those who now tend toward 'all things to all people' like Christianity Today are out there.  Note too that some people use, yes, use prayer, some type of God talk for their own political useage. See Nancy Pelosi and Obama. Poor President Bush does too and he really believes but his policies and statements are so wacky lately, that one wonders who he is hearing from. Biblical prophecy teachers are really up in arms about the possible division of Jerusalem, the giving back of the Golan Heights etc all done by PM Olmert of Israel. This is an important event and Olmert is really out to lunch lately on his statements.  One does wonder if the End Times are really counting down to the end of history. People should be up to date on religious news. It is important because politics, economics, culture, are caught up in the web of religion whether people believe in religion or not.

Choices???

Today, ABC has polls which says the public really doesn't like the President.  And , in fact, the public by two thirds wants Bush not veto the Schipp bill giving kids millions and millions more for health care.  Then two thirds of the public in the same poll said they would not want  Bush to have any more money for the troops, the War in Iraq and in Afghanistan et al.   Too me this is a horror. Part of this is Bush's policy of not using the veto more on too expensive bills. So now, he is the Ogre on health care.
And the War Monger because he wants to win in this generational war against Islamofascism.  What gets me is that the public doesn't understand economics and the threat of real evil in these jihadist Muslims.  That is a real conflict of understanding, morality, emotional fluff and also the need to somehow prop up the kids that are often either abused,or allowed to run the institution.  We are slowing descending into a morass of socialist pacifism. It is not the American way. It is not even the Judeo-Christian way unless one thinks   followers of  Jesus, Moses, and Abraham plus the history of both America and Israel are just socialist outposts nowadays.  If this is true then the entire heritage of America will disappear.  How we choose our leaders and how we try to retain our heritage and courage will show us all how our next decade will play out.
