A time of melancholy

Many Christians nowadays are yearning for the Second Coming. Especially those who are politically involved. What a time it is when American voters who are Christians, are perhaps spiritual and want the nation to reflect their morality and decency and yet the scenario presented today is that a Party that applauds perverts, is more interested in the criminal rights than the victims, is in favor of Gay rights rather than traditional standards, that is a mixture of socialist pacifists which American used to condemn, is now the Party that seems deigned to win the 2008 election. It is not a Party of God. It is a party of humanist socialist secularists yet traditional Americas seem willing now to throw over all past moral, historical , Constitutional and democratic-capitalistic views for a socialist vision of the Government taking care of us from the cradle to the grave. No wonder so many religious people who are Biblical are fleeing to the vision of a Second Coming, a Rapture, the coming of Jesus to settle all these problems which are threatening to overthrow our entire structure. American voters in general do not seemingly see this end of the American Century or the end of our democratic-capitalistic Constitutional system. It seems personal security is more important to them than national security. And they believe it getting back at the middle class or rich so they can have what they see in advertizing. Melancholy. You bet there is and I feel it too. I am a big believer in Christians being involved in society and fighting for good, justice, fairness, morals, and individual rights. I don't sit and meditate on my navel and then pray that God will come and relieve us from our responsibilities. I know Jesus is coming back and I too yearn for it. But, I do not do it out of desparation or giving up on life. God has blessed us with LIFE. We are to make the best of it and sharing the Good News of Jesus to live in the here and now as well as eternity. And when I see evil winning on all levels of life, one is tempted to shuck it all, cave in and sit behind walled communities until Jesus does indeed come. But, suppose He doesn't come for generations, decades, millenica? Then what? Just let evil and horrors like Islamofascism win? Not me. And I pray not you who read this.
